Lineage

Trace a metric back to the fields, models and source tables it is built from

Lineage traces a metric back to what it is built from: the other metrics, dimensions and measures it uses, the data models those fields belong to, and the source tables behind them. Use it to check how a number is calculated, see which tables feed a KPI, or work out why a metric changed.

Lineage reads the catalog, so ingest your project first.

You can trace a field in two ways:

  • From the command line, with anfra lineage.
  • From a data app, with Anfra.lineage() where the host installs the lineage plugin, to show where a number comes from next to the chart that shows it, or to build a field catalog.
